My first OSS project had more “characters” (Magicians and Madmen perhaps?) than all other projects in my 15+ year career combined. Reunions with team members from that project always bring a torrent of weird and wonderful stories flooding back.

I wonder if that’s why so many very cool ideas were spawned on that project – from auto-discovery to flow-through provisioning and a huge number of other innovations for the vendor I consulted to.
