As much as the current generation of OSS products are powerful, amazing and in some cases exciting, the honest truth is that there are still major shortcomings in OctopOSS projects.

Fundamental issues remain, including the following:

  • Solution complexity
  • Projects regularly under-deliver on expectations, features, costs and schedules
  • Data integrity management
  • Diaspora of different solutions for different situations and a lack of consistency across platforms

The lack of a clear market leader means that the market is awaiting to be taken to the moon by an organisation with creativity and bravery.
