“We all live every day in virtual environments, defined by our ideas.”
Thought you might be interested in this video showing the provisioning a network in software using NSX from VMware.
The interesting part about the second link is that Cisco is the stand-out omission from the ecosystem partners, even though they have cohabitation agreements with VMware in other areas. It will be fascinating to see how this plays out in coming months / years.
The big question is whether organisations end up with both variants in their networks and hence need a higher order management system (ie OSS) to manage the whole estate.
The big message with my consultant hat on is to spread the message for the C-Suite (ie CEO, CTO, etc) at CSPs to trial the different SDN / NFV variants in their labs and see what works for them.
It seems that Oracle is also joining the fray with an acquisition of Corente for its SDN capabilities and more.
