Okay, I must start by admitting that the quote above is used partly because it came from Jennifer Aniston, but don’t let that detract from the point. 🙂

Part of the thrill of the OSS industry is because it is still relatively immature and so many advances are just waiting to happen. Technologies across all OSS touch-points are evolving at an ever-increasing rate. New products are leading to new opportunities to learn, design and deliver.

There are always a number of trends flowing through the industry that seem like the next big thing, but then the next bigger thing arrives. Speaking of bigger things, big data analytics are one of the current industry trends.

The challenge for our industry’s experts is to vigilantly watch the evolution and identify the trends that real customer value can be derived from, not just following the buzz.
