Ericsson announces intention to acquire GEOSS consulting firm.
Ericsson announced its intention to acquire GEOSS, an operations support systems (OSS) consulting company based in Germany. The acquisition, which is subject to regulatory approval, further strengthens Ericsson’s already industry-leading position in OSS for communications service providers. Ericsson intends to take over the entire staff and management of 30 people.
GEOSS’ core competencies include consultancy, systems development, systems integration and operational support. The company, which has presence in Darmstadt, Düsseldorf, Munich and Stuttgart, specializes in creating and developing high-performance solutions for the configuration and monitoring of IP networks (Network Near Assurance), and supports leading German fixed and mobile operators in their transition to All-IP networks.
Stephan Weber, Managing Director at GEOSS, says: “We are still a relatively young company with a small number of employees, but we have been able to play a leading role in the development and optimization of OSS that is used to manage the networks of Germany’s leading telecom operators. We are excited about the prospect of joining Ericsson, as their global scale would enable us to lend our expertise to a much broader array of customers.”
Paolo Colella, Vice President and Head of Consulting and Systems Integration Business Unit Global Services, at Ericsson, says: “Operators are striving to improve their ability to support user needs and address new business opportunities, manage real-time interactions and simplify their OSS/BSS systems. Ericsson offers a comprehensive portfolio of software and services that can be used to achieve these aims, but we’re constantly looking to expand our offering and increase our expertise. The acquisition of GEOSS and its highly skilled employees will further strengthen Ericsson’s Consulting and Systems integration presence in the region and certainly make a valuable contribution in this regard.”
Ericsson provides adaptive OSS and BSS software solutions and services based on the deepest and broadest experience in the industry. Our 16,000 consultants and systems integration experts delivers more than 1,500 projects on a yearly basis.
