The most comprehensive analysis I’ve seen of the OSS / BSS market

I’m delighted to share with you that Houlihan Lokey, a global investment bank, has just launched the most comprehensive market analysis I’ve seen covering connectivity software including OSS / BSS. I’m possibly biased though as I’ve been lucky enough to have played a small part in its direction and content.

Most of the reports that I’ve seen from this sector cover 20-30 organisations at best. This Houlihan Lokey report references hundreds of leading vendors. But there’s one other key difference about this report.

Whereas other reports are designed to help network operators identify which OSS/BSS vendors provide suitable capabilities for their needs, this report is designed to inform investors about the opportunities that exist at the convergence of software and telecom. In essence, software enabling telecoms and, more generally, connectivity (oftentimes for non-telco sectors, such as enterprise, energy, healthcare, and media). Oh, and the vendor segmentation provided in the report still aids with the matching of vendors to network operator functional needs though too

As a highly fragmented market with well over 400 participating vendors, there is ample room for investors to influence and optimise the use of capital in the ecosystem as well as facilitating new innovation models.

The report does a deep-dive market analysis with the following five important sections:

  1. Market Dynamics
  2. Software Transformation Case Studies
  3. Ways Hyperscale Cloud Is Enabling Innovation
  4. Subsector Overviews
  5. Industry Insights

At this stage, the full report is being made available to selected companies and investor groups. If you’re interested in reading my contribution to Houlihan Lokey’s report, I would be delighted to connect and share more. And, if you’re evaluating M&A or capital raising opportunities, I’d be happy to introduce you to my friends at Houlihan Lokey.

[Update: HL has now made the exec summary of the report available for download and the full report available upon request – https://hl.com/insights/insights-article/?id=17179875243 ]
