Three Ireland enters into five-year €65m managed services contract with Amdocs.
Three announced that it has signed a contract worth €65m with Amdocs, the leading provider of customer experience solutions, for strategic services and solutions to support Three Ireland in its IT digital transformation, which includes the integration of former O2 IT systems, the elimination of duplicate IT costs and the delivery of a world-class customer experience through innovative and digital services.
Amdocs is a market leader and is expert in simplifying business complexity, reducing costs and delivering world-class customer experience through its IT services and solutions.
This investment is in addition to Three’s previously announced network investment of €300 million, which is well-underway in delivering a superfast 4G network for Three’s 2 million customers. The overall investment will ensure that Three continues to be a leading, innovative and cost effective telecommunications provider both now and into the future.
Commenting on the contract and investment, Robert Finnegan, CEO at Three said, “This €65 million investment is the next step in what is an exciting journey for Three as we continue to deliver on the promises we made when we acquired O2 in 2014. At that time we promised two new MVNOs, which we have delivered. We promised new jobs, which we delivered by creating 100 new roles when we transferred customer care calls to Limerick from Mumbai. We also promised innovation and delivering the best experience for our customers and that is what this project will achieve.
“This new agreement will substantially reduce Three’s annual IT costs which is good news for our customers as it allows Three to continue to offer great value tariffs. The acquisition of O2 in 2014 has made this investment possible.”
“Our industry is changing rapidly and in this fast-moving digital world customers expect new services and capabilities at unprecedented speed,” said Eric Updyke, Group President of Systems Integration and Operations at Amdocs. “Our software and services will provide Three Ireland with a comprehensive, digital experience solution, leveraging customer data, digital interactions and new engagement channels to capture the world of digital immediacy and rise to a new level of customer experience.”
This agreement will see Amdocs acting as lead systems integrator and under a five-year managed services model to consolidate and modernise Three Ireland’s IT systems across all lines of business to overcome system complexity, simplify business processes, provide substantial cost and operational efficiencies and enable the delivery of personalised omni-channel experiences and innovative offerings and rate plans for Three subscribers.
