Who wants an ugly hat?

If you give a man a fish he will eat for a day. But if you teach a man to fish he will buy an ugly hat. And if you talk about fish to a starving man then you are a consultant.

I’d have to raise my hand and say that I’ve done all three of these things.

I’ve worked on projects where the software and solution has been brilliant, but the customer has been unable to grasp the fundamental concepts and they’ve gone back to running their CSP with spreadsheets. They’ve eaten for a day.

I’ve worked on projects where the customer has taken their highly adaptable, highly configurable, highly flexible OctopOSS and demanded such specific customisations that any network or process changes necessitate major effort, time and cost to modify the OctopOSS to suit. They’ve bought the ugly hat.

I am an OctopOSS consultant. I know. Hang my head in shame.
But on the up-side, if you’re starving for calamari, let me know your area of interest and I’ll see if I can’t talk about it on this blog. 🙂
